Innovations in Trust, VCCs, and Real Estate Investments in Singapore
Recently, our corporate department and real estate department jointly hosted an event titled “Innovations in Trust, VCCs, and Real Estate Investments in Singapore”. The event explored the common tools used in the area of private wealth and how these tools have evolved over the years to adapt to the laws and regulations of Singapore.
In particular, our Corporate Partner, Mr. Joel Teo, briefly highlighted the innovative concepts used by companies to maximise profit extraction in light of sections 13O and 13U of the Income Tax Act 1947. He also spoke about Singapore’s growing importance to foreign companies which are looking to expand or restructure their businesses.
Our esteemed guest speaker, Mr. Sunny Leow, who is the Head of Trust Administration from British & Malayan Trustees Limited, expounded on his work as a trustee of high net-worth individuals through anonymous case studies in his talk “Legacy Cases on Trusts holding real estate in Singapore”.
Following Mr. Leow’s talk, we had an interactive and fruitful panel discussion moderated by our Corporate Partner, Mr. Joel Teo. Our panelists were Mr. Joel Teo, Mr. Timothy Loh (Partner from our Real Estate department), and Mr. Sunny Leow.
